E-mail informacio@iec.es Abstract: The Institut d’Estudis Catalans (IEC), founded and expanded on the initiative of Enric Prat de la Riba, in accordance with greements with the Diputació de Barcelona (Barcelona Provincial Authority) dated June 18th 1907 and Fbruary 14th 1911, is an academic, scientific and cultural corporation the aim of which is scientific research, principally that involving all the elements of Catalan culture. Thus it is recognized in Royal Decree 3.118 of November the 26th of 1976 and in the Resolution of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Autonomous Government of Catalonia) of May 17th 1989 whereby the Articles, which contain the letter and thespirit of the founding agreements, were published.

Actualmente se está recobrando el gusto por las expresiones populares; la REVISTA DE ESTUDIOS EXTREMEÑOS desde su fundación en 1927 ha dado acogida en sus páginas a un cúmulo de trabajos folklóricos que constituye una de las fuentes más completas que existen en España para la investigación de la etnografía regional. Por ello ha nacido la BIBLIOTECA VIRTUAL EXTREMEÑA para difundir esos textos y dar a conocer la historia y cultura de nuestra tierra. Aunque la biblioteca se va a centrar en estudios de etnología y folklore tomados de esta revista, también se tratarán todo tipo de temas, usando otras fuentes como la REVISTA DE EXTREMADURA (actualmente no se edita), ALCÁNTARA - REVISTA DEL SEMINARIO DE ESTUDIOS CACEREÑOS y artículos tomados de otras publicaciones y revistas digitales, por lo que cualquier persona sensibilizada con nuestra cultura puede colaborar enviando sus investigaciones.
